Chris Liebing

Chris Liebing is a German Techno DJ and Producer.   At the forefront of the Schranz and German Hard Techno scenes Liebing has been a pioneer of the harder end of the Techno spectrum.  He has been producing since 1998 and also runs his own label CLR

Early Years: 1998 to 2004

Chris Liebing first started DJ-ing in 1991 at a small club near Frankfurt before moving on to a residency at OMEN in Frankfurt itself.  In 1995 he started producing and by the late nineties was releasing singles.

Liebing was at the forefront of the German Hard Techno and Schranz scenes as illustrated by the name of his 1999 track ‘The Real Schranz’ (CLAU 1999). 

In 1999 Liebing started his record label CLR (Chris Liebing Recordings) which became a home of many Liebing releases and additionally of artists such as Umek and Brian Sanhaji.

Liebing started the 2000’s with a residency at Sven Väth’s Cocoon in Ibiza (Liebing was on the books of the Cocoon DJ agency).  Liebing played four successive seasons at Cocoon before moving over to Space with Carl Cox.

Later Years: 2005 to present

In 2005 Liebing released the album ‘Collabs 3000 : Metalism’ (NovaMute 2005) a collaboration with CLR artist Speedy J.

In 2010 Liebing rebranded CLR from Chris Liebing Recordings  to Create Learn Realize and released the anniversary album ‘10 Years CLR’ (CLR 2010).

Liebing plays regularly across the globe and is known for his use to technology to create real-time manipulation of sounds when performing.

 

Chris Liebing may not have as high a profile as other German Techno DJs such as Sven Väth or Westbam but is nonetheless an influential figure in the German Techno scene, both as a DJ / Producer and as the head of CLR.
