Early Years: 2006 to present

Although Krzysztof Prętkiewicz started experimenting with music production in his early teens his first release came in 2006 with the high tempo driving trance track ‘Diving In The Sky’ (Profuse 2006) as half of 3rd Moon alongside Polish trance producer Kamil Bigaj.

Later the same year Prętkiewicz signed to Above and Beyond’s Anjunabeats label as Nitrous Oxide and released the first of what would be many singles for the UK trance indie.  The single ‘North Pole / Frozen Dreams’ (Anjunabeats 2006) still had the drive of the 3rd Moon singles but at a slower pace and with a stronger melodic feel.

Nitrous Oxide’s first success came the following year with ‘Amnesia’ (Anjunabeats 2007), a peak time melodic trance track with cascading pianos and a kick drum that almost smashes its way out of the speakers.

Over the coming years Prętkiewicz perfected his Nitrous Oxide sound combining big melodies with driving rhythms and ripping electro bass riffs.  In doing so he became one of Anjunabeats more successful artists and gained regular support of top tier DJs including Armin van Buuren and of course Above and Beyond.

In 2010 he released his first original artist album ‘Dreamcatcher’ (Anjunabeats 2010) which spawned a number of singles including ‘Follow You’ (Anjunabeats 2010) which featured Aneym on vocals and had a remix contest run for it.

Nitrous Oxide is established as one of the key artists in the Anjunabeats stable and is one of the leading figures on the Polish dance music scene. Though his sound is unarguably mainstream with a strong commercial edge it retains a toughness that echoes Prętkiewicz’s 3rd Moon days.

Krzysztof Pretkiewicz was born in Poznan, Poland in 1984 and as a youngster was influenced by artists including Depeche Mode, Mike Oldfield and Jean Michel Jarre.
