Oliver Smith came to prominence as half of trance production duo Smith and Pledger along with fellow producer Mark Pledger.  The pair stopped producing in 2006 but remained on Above and Beyond’s Anjunabeats label as solo artists.
Smith’s first release was ‘Nimbus / Tomahawk’ (Anjunabeats 2007) which although more progressive than many Smith and Pledger tracks still had the pair’s high tempo feel and mainstream melodic edge.

Over the following years Smith’s style became less high paced and increasingly progressive, though always with a strong focus on melody, as seen on ‘Cadence’ (Anjunabeats 2009).  The evolution of Smith’s sound continued further with the 2010 single ‘Sunday’ (Anjunabeats 2010) which combined house rhythms with floating Balearic sounds.

In 2008 five Smith tracks were included in the ‘Anjunabeats Volume 6’ (Anjunabeats 2008) mix compilation, a record for a single artist for the compilation series.

To date Smith has released over 50 tracks and remixes (solo and as part of Smith and Pledger) and he DJs widely at leading clubs around the world.  He has remixed for numerous trance artists including Signalrunners, Jaytech, Maor Levi and Above & Beyond.  Smith is also a resident presenter on Above and Beyond’s Anjunabeats Worldwide radio show.

Oliver Smith rose quickly to prominence as half of Smith and Pledger, gaining critical, DJ and fan support along the way. Though his solo career so far has been less meteoric he enhanced his reputation as one of the more influential producers in the trance music scene.
