'Alquimia'
(Anjunabeats 2011)

Early Years: 2006 to present

Gabriel Ward and Samuel Bouria created a Gorillaz-like back-story for the fictional characters of their Parker and Hanson alias. The story tells of the imaginary duo’s childhood on the streets of New York as orphans and their switch from petty crime to dance music (via hip hop).

Ward and Bouriah have never been photographed as Parker and Hanson, instead using a pair of computer generated featureless characters for all publicity shots.

The first Parker and Hanson release came in 2006 with ‘Let Me Be’ (Maelstrom Records 2006). ‘Let Me Be’ is at the more up-tempo end of the progressive trance spectrum but future releases became increasingly deeper and lower tempo.

Those follow up releases came at approximately once every year up to and including the release of ‘Alquimia’ (Anjunabeats 2010) on Above and Beyond’s Anjunabeats label.

Ward and Bouriah have largely succeeded in keeping their true identities secret though news began to spread through trance music fan forums in 2009.

The Parker and Hanson has enabled Ward and Bouriah to build a reputation for intelligently crafted progressive trance free of the prejudices which the DJ Sammy association would have otherwise brought.

Parker and Hanson’s fictional back-story tells of a violent and troubled youth for the orphaned brothers on the streets of New York, culminating in older brother Parker being stabbed at club and the two subsequently moving to Philadelphia.
