Early Years: 2002 to present

Sean Tyas got his first mixing decks in 1999 his first own production release came three years later with ‘Love At First Site’ (Topaz 2002).  In 2004 Tyas moved to Germany to start work producing and engineering for DJ Beam, who had discovered Tyas through the demos he had posted on the forum of the Trance Addict website.

Tyas next moved to Switzerland where he produced a number of tracks for Dave202.  The following year he released his breakthrough production ‘Mirella’ (Afterglow Records).  ‘Mirella’ (named after his wife) has the core sonic elements that Tyas has gone on to build his sound around: pounding high pace rhythm, fierce electro running bass line and big lead line.

By 2006 Tyas’ reputation was beginning to build: he won the Spinnin’ Records remix competition for his mix of Sander van Doorn’s ‘Punk’d’ and then signed for John Askew’s Discover Recordings. Tyas’ DJ career was experiencing similar success, with gigs at the lines of Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Ministry Of Sound and The Gallery as well as appearances at Dutch dance festivals Trance Energy, Dance Valley and Mystery Land.

Tyas continued to release high octane trance tracks that got the support of top tier DJs such as Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten.  Tracks such as ‘Heart to Heart’ (Tetsuo 2008) and ‘Melbourne’ (Discover 2009) saw Tyas refine his hard edged but highly melodic trance sound.
Tyas has found himself increasingly in demand as a remixer, remixing tracks for the likes of Agnelli & Nelson, Vincent de Moor and Above & Beyond.  He has also recorded a number of collaborations with big names such as Armin van Buuren and Simon Patterson.

In 2010 Tyas released ‘Banshee’ on Armin van Buuren’s State of Trance label, a track which Tyas claimed was a return to his ‘trance roots’.

Sean Tyas has quickly built a reputation for trance productions that are as high octane as his production skills and he has enthusiastic support from big names such as John Askew and Armin van Buuren.  Though at the pacier end of the trance spectrum the strong melodies in Tyas’ productions include that they also have mainstream appeal.

Sean Tyas was born in Long Island, New York but is based in Switzerland where he lives with his Swiss wife Mirella.
